North Sea or the Baltic Sea, either way Germany’s coast is a huge playground for kids. From islands and long sandy beaches to beautiful hanseatic cities and cosy maritime villages, everywhere are adventures waiting to be discovered by kids! You can romp around in the water, build sandcastles, let kites fly or make bike tour on the shore. Just have fun with your whole family!

  • With a special atmosphere directly on the Baltic Sea there is the famous Hansa-Park. With rides embedded in the picturesque coastal landscape, it makes the excursion something very special for families.
  • Say “Ahoi!” and be a captain on the one of the museum ships & submarines.  Kids can explore the working and living conditions of the deep-sea fishermen of the time and can visit the chambers, galleys and engine room.
  • The Haithabu Wikinger historical village and museum is a historically important trading place and now an open-air museum that tells the story of the way of life of the ancient Scandinavian people in the IX-XI centuries.
  • The famous Unesco World Cultural Heritage of North Sea is the Wadden Sea. Your kids will love mudflat walks and crab watching while listening to a guide why the tides exists and how it works. Don’t forget to take your rubber boots!
  • Seal stations or robbarium are very popular at the Norden and in Rostock. Orphaned seals are reared there until they are later brought back to the sea where they can survive. Kids enjoy watching the cute animals being fed and how everyone can help protecting them.
  • Other wild animals and birds living in this region can be found in Wildlife Parks, Bird Parks and Zoos, which are countless in the north of Germany. Underwater life can be observed in Aquariums & Oceanariums, like: Sea Life Timmendorfer Strand, Meeresmuseum and Ozeaneum in Stralsund and other.
  • A unique interactive museum is located in the port city of Bremerhaven – the Climate Museum of the 8th meridian of eastern longitude. The futuristic building on the North Sea coast invites you to take a round-the-world trip around 9 climatic zones and 5 continents, to get acquainted with the diversity of nature and cultures of our world.
  • Besides the possibility to bath in the sea there are several indoor leisure pools with see or thermal water like “AHOI” or Ostseetherme, Subtropische Badeparadies or Wonnemar  – bathing and adventure worlds with several pools, water slides and other attractions for kids.
  • Karl’s Karl’s Adventure Village and Strawberry farm, is a great for a family trip all year around! Outdoor attractions like petting zoo, adventure playground, big slide, pony riding and tractor driving and many more makes the little farmer happy! A great covered farm market offers plenty of strawberry-related and other regional products. Indoor playground, handicraft workshops for children and the manufacturies, where you can see how strawberry jam, candys or gummy are made. Fruity strawberry ice cream and yummy strawberry cake can be enjoyed here, so as wide variety of food options for the hungry ones. There are 3 in total at the Baltic Sea.
