Built by the Saxon king, August “The Strong”, in the 18th century as a pledge of love to his mistress and faithfully restored in 1995, Grand Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski is a beautiful composition of baroque art and contemporary elegance. It is located in the very heart of Dresden’s historic city Centre and next to the oldest Christmas market (“Striezelmarkt”) of the world. The Hotel has an own Ice Rink in the period from November to January in the 500 qm courtyard.

Due to its central location, some of the 182 luxurious rooms and 31 suites offers an incredible view over Dresden’s sights of the Old Town, such as the Semperoper, Zwinger and the Residenzschloss. The imposing staircase was faithful to the earlier existing recreated.

The hotel also has a heated pool and spa area, which are going to be opened during the middle of this year, the Café Vestibül and two restaurants. The upscale restaurant Intermezzo offers high-quality dishes with down-to-earth elegance and refined simplicity, true to the motto: “Mediterranean, fresh, unconventional.” In addition, there is the authentic French-inspired Palais Bistro with French creations of truffle tart flambé to classic Crème Brûlée is something for everyone here. Of particular note is the award-winning Karl May Bar with over 100 whiskey varieties and home-made cocktails, which is also very popular with locals in Dresden.
